Colour Loves Dark Skin Tones

Lancôme is known for it‘s diversity – catering to women of all colours with a variety of tones.
Since I’ve been with the brand, I’ve been experimenting and in the process discovered new ways of using the products, resulting in new ways to enhance the already beautiful work it does on my skin.
I’m a dark skin woman and I find that not a lot of brands give me choices to play with different hues of colour, that suits me! Starting with the Ultra Wear foundations, the L’Absolu Rouge lipstick range, Hypnose eyeshadow palettes…..just to name a few of my favourites. Having mentioned the above, the one product I can’t live without is Blush Subtil

I use ‘Rouge in Love’ 032 and ‘Rose Indien’ 022, these two blushes are perfect for many dark skin ladies because it’s pigmented and buildable – perfect for the Insta trend…draping! Or simply to add warmth and definition on the face.

At first I didn’t think these colours would suit me but now I can honestly say I’m in love and I always use these on my deeper tone dolls – as a makeup artist. Customers have reacted the same way I did when I tried these out!

Hope this is super helpful and if you have questions about dark skin dolls….don’t hesitate to ask

A Lasting DIY Manicure

Hi beauties

Hope you all well? Cannot believe it’s been 4 months since my last post!

A lot has changed in my life since, however the good always outweighs the bad. Finally started my mobile beauty business…YAY. Not easy but what business is? I find that it is very important to use the best products for maximum results and for building client relationship, so this post is about tips on a good manicure; I hope you find the tips helpful.

The DIY manicure… It is important you invest in a really good Base Coat and Top Coat Nail Polish.

IMG_4404 (1)

The best one on the market is the Essie Base Coat Nail Polish, Beauty therapists use it and I personally think it’s the best and only costs £5.95.

We find using a base coat extends the life of a manicure, because it acts as an adhesive. Giving the polish an even surface and prevents dark colours staining your nails.

The Top Coat Nail Polish by Seche Vite is absolutely amazing, fast drying and only costs £5.95.

Top Coats seals your polish after the second coat and to keep them looking fresh, apply top coat every 2 days to keep nails sealed.

Wear gloves when cleaning to prevent chipping, not using gloves when using detergents and cleaning products lacking in vitamins.

Keep nails hydrated with cuticle oil; however avoid applying cuticle oil and cream before the manicure to prevent any oil being left on the nail bed. Also applying the cuticle after, whilst you are waiting for your nails to dry the oil acts as a treatment leaving you cuticle hydrated.

Hope this post has been helpful and hope you have lasting manicures. Please feel free to comment and ask questions. Stay beautiful inside and out! X

Test Drive your Cosmetics

Hey Dolls,

It’s been a while! wish there was more time in the day, writing up business plan, work, the twins and figuring out what new direction the blog is going! Anyway this post is not about that! However I will get back to that in more detail…Promise. Will try keep this post short and sweet.

Clients, girlfriends and family members always ask me, Christelle what’s a good eye cream or foundation etc etc. I obviously recommend what i know and I’ve tried, but that does not necessarily mean that it is right for their needs. I’ve always keep in mind if I’m going to spend money on good skin care, foundation or concealer….the list keeps going! Always ask for samples see if it works for you, see how you like it! There is nothing worst than spending £50 on a eye cream, for it to be siting in the back of your bathroom shelf because it is not working for you!!! We have all been there trust me, I know! It can be a little embarrassing to ask for samples….but don’t be, you have every right to do so.

I Asked for Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation samples, used it…Loved it! Bought IT!

Now kind of addicted to her products, I’m currently sampling her skincare range ‘The Magic Skin Trilogy‘.  The Magic Night Cream and The Magic Eye Rescue, haven’t tried The Magic Cream yet, however it is  an award-wining product! The samples I’m using so far so good!

IMG_2039

The Magic Night Cream, has 8 de-ageing ingredients; Time-Released Retinol Molecules, Winter Daphne Stem Cells Extract, Frangipani, Vitamin E, Bionymph Peptide, Second Skin Red Algae Marigel, Castor Seed Oil is the healing properties in this cream and the last ingredient is Olus Oil.  It is always better to start using anti-ageing creams now to prevent the natural ageing process and avoid botox! I use a little, its an elixir so you do not need use a lot the texture is rich but velvety. My skin feels amazing in the morning, plump and smooth. I’m a firm believer of night creams and this one is 10/10.

IMG_2040

The Magic Eye Rescue, contains 6 of the same ingredients instead of the Castor Seed Oil and Olus Oil; It contains Botanical Eye Contour Complex and Saccharide Isomerate. The Magic Eye Cream reduces the appearance of puffiness and dark circles, meant to smooth fine lines and instantly tightens and refreshes the skin. Well as you know the skin around your eyes is the thinest, so I apply very little around my eyes, you should always gently tap around the eyes not rub it! Because I used so little from my sample it lasted me a week and the appearance of my dark circles have reduced…I hardly use concealer around my eyes now! I will be making a trip to the nearest Charlotte Tilbury haul on pay day!!

IMG_2041

Do not be shy nor embarrassed to ask for samples, reviews are helpful but it is not the as trying it for your self! I mean when you buy a car…you test it first no? Hope you have found this post useful and pleasant…please feel free to comment or share with friends. Stay beautiful inside out. X

Natur’ Amour Natural Skincare

Hi dolls,

Hope everyone had a great weekend? Cannot believe it is the second week of February already! Valentines day this Sunday…to be honest for me Valentines Day is not a big deal. The hubbster and me had a pact when we started dating, that everyday is Valentines Day! However I did go to a ladies night event, with my girl, ‘A Diva’s Night Out (Valentines Edition)’. It was a nice girlie night out, cocktails, and sexy lingerie to look at and of course skincare products for sale, any beauty bloggers dream! So will try and keep this short and sweet.

Natur’ Amour is a holistic brand, created by Marie-Claude owner of The Essence of Esther Ltd. She created this line because she started having acne issues, in doing so she was determined to find the root to her acne problem. Certain products she would use was making the problem worse, out of frustration and not finding anything that worked for her, Marie-Claude was doing her research, finding that her diet was also a contribution to her acne. To cut long story short she created Natur’ Amour – created for women of colour suffering from acne. The products are made out of natural ingredients such as Papaya oil, Jojoba oil, Bamboo, Hydrosol, Cranberry extract, Manuka and Vitamin C, among other ingredients.

IMG_1936

The products are free from parabens, petrochemical, sulphates, mineral oils, hydroquinone and synthetics ingredients. The irony is a lot of the products we use on our skin contain these nasty chemical. Her products use ECOCERT approved preservatives, also because they are freshly made they expire 3 to 6 months after manufacturing. The brand is ethical even down to the containers – made of violet glass, which has unique properties to help preserve the integrity of the natural ingredients, by blocking any visible light.

What I love about this brand is the simplicity of the products, the line has 3 introductory products for normal/combination and oily skin types; Unscented Goat’s milk Soap, Brightening Day Cream and Rebalancing Serum. More products to come.

IMG_1934IMG_1938

Unscented Goat’s milk Soap; Helps nourish and rejuvenate the skin, its anti-bacterial properties helps slow down the organisms that spread skin conditions like acne.

Brightening Day Cream; is my favourite, the smell is refreshing and the texture is light but moisturising, leaving your skin soft without the greasy feel. With the ingredients, like vitamin c and white lily oil working together to reduce the appearance of pigmentation spots, and brighten skin complexion. The bergamot essential oil acts as an antiseptic and has healing properties for skin regeneration.

Rebalancing Serum; The serum is a night treatment oil, the serum contains purifying, and anti-inflammatory properties, that help to regulate the sebum production, great for oily skin.

Natur’ Amour Mission Statement

“Our values are based on quality, integrity and concern for the wellbeing of our customers. We use our hands to craft. It’s our labour of love. That’s because we care. We aim to educate on the benefits to switch to safe skincare and adapt a toxic free lifestyle for great beauty from the inside out!”

I’ve just started using the Brightening Cream and the Rebalancing Serum, it’s only been a few days, and I can already feel and see a difference. Natural is the best way forward. Nails Inc London

Hi Dolls,

Hope you all having a wonderful weekend. I’m loving my Nails Inc London polish, ten pick and mix 10ml nail polishes, I bought over Black Friday sales last year. The normal price was £110 and I got it for £20! Such a great bargain. Plus I received a £10 voucher towards a treatment at any Nails Inc London… still need to use it before my voucher expires…the excitement is real! This is just a short post on me using my nail polishes!

IMG_0971 (1)

Remember to always use a base coat before applying nail polish, because it keeps the colour from staining your nails. Also using a top coat will keep your nail polish on for longer. I’m sure you guys know that already…just checking.

IMG_1751

Always keep your tools clean, put in a jar of Barbacide, using spatulas to remove products (Kaeso professional manicure range) from containers, to keep from cross- contamination… no double dipping!

12295232_684804318321641_8019385474870723922_n

Both of my lovely clients received a 45 minute luxury manicure, which includes hand massage, hand scrub, cuticle softening, file, polish and Paraffin wax for a deep conditioning treatment. Leaving your hands softer than a baby’s bottom.

The Perfect Coverage

Hi Dolls,

Hope you’ve all been well? Keeping wrapped up and  warm this winter. I have mixed feelings about the winter, sometimes I love it and other times I loath it. A client recently asked me for tips about the right make up for her and realising how many clients have asked the same question, I thought to write about the basics starting with foundation. My skin normally needs  more moisture during this icy weather, so that means I normally have two foundations, one for summer and the other for the winter. I know that sounds really silly but it’s the truth! Firstly, your skin type changes due to environmental factors. Mine is a combination of normal/oily during the summer and dry/normal during the winter.

So choosing the right foundation is very important not only for coverage purposes but for your skin type. It is also a combination of knowing what properties the foundation has, that will be suitable for your skin. There are 11 types of foundations, in different shades, brands, occasions and skin types. Knowing what you are looking for in a foundation is key. I will try to keep this post short and sweet!

Always prep your skin well before applying foundation, cleanse, tone and moisturise. Make sure you wait for a couple of minutes before and after applying a primer, so the moisturiser penetrates in the skin, whilst the primer shields your skin and then apply your favourite coverage.

Beautifying Oils

Hi Dolls,

I hope you all well?

I’m slowly getting back on track with my blog schedule, I’m very thankful for my readers.

So as a beauty blogger I get excited about buying so many beauty related products including skin care, make up, hair care and nail products! Therefore, today’s post is going to be about some great hair care products I’ve been using. YAY!

I currently have my natural hair out, no weave for about 3months now! I like doing that so my hair can breathe, plus it’s what I call responsible weaving…Lol!

My first ever job was in a hairdresser on Westbourne Groove in London, where I discovered Kerastese, by L’Oreal. Using the products on myself and on clients in the past, has given me the opportunity to really understand what each product does and what range should be used for different hair types. I’m a fan of Kerastese, I’ve recently been using the ‘Elixir Ultime’ range, my hair is thick and dry so this range is great for me, because each product is infused with different beautifying oils and it is for all thick hair types. So here is my list of products I use on my hair in the exact order I’d normally use it!

IMG_1687

Metamorph’ oil Preparatory oil balm has a gel-like texture, which turns milky when water is applied. So I normally apply this on dry hair, combs through it and then add a little water before massaging till it lathers, then I rinse it out.

IMG_1688

Shampoo – packed with a unique combination of coriander, coconut and Shea butter oils.

IMG_1689

Beautifying oils (corn germ, camellia, argan and pracaxi oils) masque, is for all hair types! It’s a treatment, so I apply it from roots to ends and leave it in for 5 to 10 minutes in a shower cap. I then use my hair dryer to heat it up for a deep conditioning treatment.

IMG_1690

Fluidissime – complete anti-frizz care and heat protection.

IMG_1691

Solid serum with 15 beautifying oils – I use this to polish my blow dry.

I hope you dolls enjoyed this post, looking forward to see your favourite products. Please feel to comment or ask questions.

Monday Blues

Hi Dolls,

Hope you all had a great weekend? Mine was busy with the twins, work and being a Stepford wife. The juggle is real!

In relation to the post I previously wrote on Spring 2016 trends; lets get on the topic of one of the hottest trends – the bright blue eye shadows, cobalt, navy, cerulean, teal…the list goes on! There is so much more theory when it comes to colours, so I will try to keep this post short, sweet and as  informative as possible.

The key thing about this trend is finding the right blue for your skin tone and eye colour. Blue is a cool colour so this will compliment different undertones quite well. The colours we see depend on the colour of the light source, also considering different ingredients used in eye shadows have filters that can reflect a different colour in the light. Have you ever noticed when you get your foundation done at a make up counter in a department store it always looks different in day light?!! Well, natural daylight will give off a bluish tone and artificial lighting will give off a yellowish tone and fluorescent light gives off a green tone. This is why I always do my makeup in daylight it reflects my true skin tone/undertone. Also remember that when you buy a colour with the same name from different manufactures, the colour will never be the same.

Putting a brighter colour in the inner corner of the eye opens the eye out, making it seem larger. Where as darker colours close a space in. So lets avoid the darker blues around the inner corners of the eye. I’ve made up a list of the good Blues out there!

E49D2924-2053-4F69-AA15-37CBC71B2209

  2. Nars Dual- Intensity Eye Shadow in Cressida £21, available on the 15th of January 2016

  4. Dior 5 Colour Eye shadow Palette – Carre Blue £42
  5. Cle De Peau Powder Eye Colour Solo £33, available on February 2016

I hope you found this post informative and helpful, I always enjoy trying out trends and adapting it to my features because you should never just follow trends but rather make them suite you.

The Festive Season

Hi Guys and Dolls,😃

I would like to wish you all a Happy Christmas and Happy New Year! May 2016 be a great new beginning filled  with positivity, prosperity, happiness and good health.

As we are about to enter the New Year, here’s my top tips for New Year’s Eve celebrations;

1. Keep the glitter to a minimum, either your nails or eyeshadow! Don’t over do it!

2. Go for dark lip colour, berry colours and purples. Make sure you choose the right hues for your complexion.

3. Focus on one part of the face, either your eyes, lips or brows. This will give your look a sophicated touch.

Enter the New Year with style and clear state of mind. Don’t drink too much. Eat, pace your drinks, drink water in between rounds – best way to avoid hangovers! And drink a glass of water before bed, trust me it works. I’ve learned over the years how you spend New Year’s Eve determines what kind of year the next year is going to be. Happy New year and stay beautiful inside and out. 😘 🎉🎊 Christelle
