The Perfect Coverage

Hi Dolls,

Hope you’ve all been well? Keeping wrapped up and  warm this winter. I have mixed feelings about the winter, sometimes I love it and other times I loath it. A client recently asked me for tips about the right make up for her and realising how many clients have asked the same question, I thought to write about the basics starting with foundation. My skin normally needs  more moisture during this icy weather, so that means I normally have two foundations, one for summer and the other for the winter. I know that sounds really silly but it’s the truth! Firstly, your skin type changes due to environmental factors. Mine is a combination of normal/oily during the summer and dry/normal during the winter.

So choosing the right foundation is very important not only for coverage purposes but for your skin type. It is also a combination of knowing what properties the foundation has, that will be suitable for your skin. There are 11 types of foundations, in different shades, brands, occasions and skin types. Knowing what you are looking for in a foundation is key. I will try to keep this post short and sweet!

Always prep your skin well before applying foundation, cleanse, tone and moisturise. Make sure you wait for a couple of minutes before and after applying a primer, so the moisturiser penetrates in the skin, whilst the primer shields your skin and then apply your favourite coverage.

Camouflage Foundation

  • Suitable for all skin types, provides excellent full coverage without looking thick and cakey! It has high pigment content and the product is water resistant and excellent for covering hyperpigmentation,  hypopigmentation, erythema, bruising, scars, birthmarks and tattoos. This product is available on the NHS for some conditions.

Airbrush Foundation (silicone based) & (alcohol based)

  • Suitable for all skin types, where as the alcohol based  is used on the body rather than the face.
  • Provides full coverage and light texture, very natural looking coverage (silicone based). Used to fill in pores and fine lines. I think this is perfect for Brides.
  • Highly pigmented for full long lasting coverage and this is non-transferable so will not smudge when rubbed (alcohol based).

2in1 Foundation

  • Suitable for oily skin because of the high powder content, that help absorb the oils.
  • contains powder producers or a small amount of mineral oil, talc and kaolin pigments.

Beautifying Oils

Hi Dolls,

I hope you all well?

I’m slowly getting back on track with my blog schedule, I’m very thankful for my readers.

So as a beauty blogger I get excited about buying so many beauty related products including skin care, make up, hair care and nail products! Therefore, today’s post is going to be about some great hair care products I’ve been using. YAY!

I currently have my natural hair out, no weave for about 3months now! I like doing that so my hair can breathe, plus it’s what I call responsible weaving…Lol!

My first ever job was in a hairdresser on Westbourne Groove in London, where I discovered Kerastese, by L’Oreal. Using the products on myself and on clients in the past, has given me the opportunity to really understand what each product does and what range should be used for different hair types. I’m a fan of Kerastese, I’ve recently been using the ‘Elixir Ultime’ range, my hair is thick and dry so this range is great for me, because each product is infused with different beautifying oils and it is for all thick hair types. So here is my list of products I use on my hair in the exact order I’d normally use it!

IMG_1687

Metamorph’ oil Preparatory oil balm has a gel-like texture, which turns milky when water is applied. So I normally apply this on dry hair, combs through it and then add a little water before massaging till it lathers, then I rinse it out.

IMG_1688

Shampoo – packed with a unique combination of coriander, coconut and Shea butter oils.

IMG_1689

Beautifying oils (corn germ, camellia, argan and pracaxi oils) masque, is for all hair types! It’s a treatment, so I apply it from roots to ends and leave it in for 5 to 10 minutes in a shower cap. I then use my hair dryer to heat it up for a deep conditioning treatment.

IMG_1690

Fluidissime – complete anti-frizz care and heat protection.

IMG_1691

Solid serum with 15 beautifying oils – I use this to polish my blow dry.

I hope you dolls enjoyed this post, looking forward to see your favourite products. Please feel to comment or ask questions.

Stay beautiful inside and out. X

Monday Blues

Hi Dolls,

Hope you all had a great weekend? Mine was busy with the twins, work and being a Stepford wife. The juggle is real!

In relation to the post I previously wrote on Spring 2016 trends; lets get on the topic of one of the hottest trends – the bright blue eye shadows, cobalt, navy, cerulean, teal…the list goes on! There is so much more theory when it comes to colours, so I will try to keep this post short, sweet and as  informative as possible.

The key thing about this trend is finding the right blue for your skin tone and eye colour. Blue is a cool colour so this will compliment different undertones quite well. The colours we see depend on the colour of the light source, also considering different ingredients used in eye shadows have filters that can reflect a different colour in the light. Have you ever noticed when you get your foundation done at a make up counter in a department store it always looks different in day light?!! Well, natural daylight will give off a bluish tone and artificial lighting will give off a yellowish tone and fluorescent light gives off a green tone. This is why I always do my makeup in daylight it reflects my true skin tone/undertone. Also remember that when you buy a colour with the same name from different manufactures, the colour will never be the same.

Putting a brighter colour in the inner corner of the eye opens the eye out, making it seem larger. Where as darker colours close a space in. So lets avoid the darker blues around the inner corners of the eye. I’ve made up a list of the good Blues out there!

The Festive Season

Hi Guys and Dolls,😃

I would like to wish you all a Happy Christmas and Happy New Year! May 2016 be a great new beginning filled  with positivity, prosperity, happiness and good health.

As we are about to enter the New Year, here’s my top tips for New Year’s Eve celebrations;

1. Keep the glitter to a minimum, either your nails or eyeshadow! Don’t over do it!

2. Go for dark lip colour, berry colours and purples. Make sure you choose the right hues for your complexion.

3. Focus on one part of the face, either your eyes, lips or brows. This will give your look a sophicated touch.

Enter the New Year with style and clear state of mind. Don’t drink too much. Eat, pace your drinks, drink water in between rounds – best way to avoid hangovers! And drink a glass of water before bed, trust me it works. I’ve learned over the years how you spend New Year’s Eve determines what kind of year the next year is going to be. Happy New year and stay beautiful inside and out. 😘 🎉🎊 Christelle

Not Sexy….chapped lips

Hi Beauties 😃

Winter is coming so protecting yourself from the cold is a standard procedure! I’ve noticed that my lips get dryer than usual during the winter, causing them to ‘chap’ and  my lipstick or gloss makes it worse!!! And sometimes using lip blam before applying your favourite matte lipstick causes it to  shine! Or it feels greasy with your normal lipstick! This season I’ve decided to ditch my lipstick and opt for lip liner and gloss! I use vitamin E or C lip treatment before applying lip liner and then finish it off with my non sticky lip gloss from Motives cosmetics! Yes NOT Sticky lip gloss…I stand by it as many customers who know the brand would back me up on this! The vitamin E or C  keeps them moisturised without the greasy feeling, in fact Motives Cosmetics  has a range of lip treatments to suit ones need!  So keeping your lips luscious this season is an essential!

Motives Retro Red Lip Liner £12.50

Motives Vitamin C lip treatment £14.00

Motives Vitamins E lip treatment £14.00

Motives Pucker Up lip plumper- diamond £13.50

I hope you dolls keep your lips luscious this season! Stay beautiful inside out. 😘

MIA

Hi Guys and Dolls, 🙂

I’m sorry that I have been MIA lately, still trying to find a balance and making time for my blog, beauty training and launching my Unfranchiased business. The beauty school (LCBT) has 15 units to cover that have taken most of time studying/practice; I really love it! So far I’ve covered day, night and occasion make up, body art, French plait, fish plait and facial techniques, which I’m pretty confident in, plus practice, makes perfect! There still so much more to learn and I cannot wait, also I do not want to bore you with all the terms so will show you the stuff that I’ve covered so far. I will make sure to carry on posting as often as I used to and hope you beauties are still enjoying my blog!

IMG_1051IMG_1052

Khloe Kardashian inspired this occasion make up I did for Ana she was going to a wedding! Keeping the Smokey eye very minimal, using browns and 3 different shades of gold, with eyeliner top and bottom, double lashes and bright red lipstick, cheek contour and blush to finish off the look. Hair Styled using Halo Extensions, her hair is in a bob! So I went for half up hairstyle with loose curls.

Body Art Hand Animals, zebras and a swan guess which ones mine…The Toucan. Body Art Robot Leg, that was my first attempt!

IMG_1054IMG_1036

Colour Correction

Hi Beauties, 🙂

I never really knew anything about colour concealers until I started my training at LCBT. There are colour concealer in Green, Peach, Pink, Yellow, Lilac and Orange. The process of using colour concealers is known as colour correction and it is applied to target problem areas and contains pigments which balances skin tone. I’m still on the search for a good colour correcting palette but I have added some examples so you Beauty Bunnies know what I’m talking about. The Colour Pigment correct things like:

Dark Circles – To cover dark circles using a peach, pink or yellow concealer to balance the skin tone before applying your normal concealer, for Brown and Dark skin tones using the Orange colour pigment is perfect.

Redness – To correct the redness on your face, you should be using a green concealer. However using the yellow will be better for photos, because the green will make you look washed out in pictures.

Sallow Skin Colour – The lilac concealer will do the trick.

Hope this has been helpful, enjoy being picture perfect. 😉 X.
